ABOUT THE EXHIBITION Japan Creative Centre and LA LIBRERIA present ‘Centre to Periphery’ a book art exhibition curated by artists Eriko Hirashima, Noriko Suzuki-Bosco and Seiji Shinohara. This exhibition showcases the book as a medium of art. The title Centre to Periphery implies encountering books from various perspectives; not just as reading material but as an event or experience. The exhibition not only questions the concept of what book art is but also provides an interesting opportunity for the audience to experience and think about their own perception of what a book is in a culturally diverse environment. Of the 38 artists’ works on display, some are displayed in glass cabinets whilst others are available for the visitors to touch and feel. There is also a performance piece with which the visitors can have a sensory experience.
