budding artist publish his collection of postcards for his loved one
for his loved one, han record and post moments and experiences of his life with photographic images and texts on limited edition self-made postcards from 2005 to 2007. the sky i wish to share with you book is a collection of artwork, in the form of a series of 37 selected postcards and one selected installation proposal resulting from hanfs unrequited longing. scenes of encounters shot by the artist, sometimes accompanied with notes, served as a way to share moments which the artist could not bring to his loved one.

about the book
the sky i wish to share with you is a collection of artwork, in the form of a series of postcards, several installations
and a short film, resulting from hanfs unrequited longing. scenes of encounters shot by the artist, sometimes
accompanied with notes, served as a way to share moments which the artist could not bring to his loved one. as
interplays of real and simulated sites conjure up familiar cinematic states, this project begins his response to the
speed of contemporary society; a mediation of his need for nostalgic emotional experiences.
about the artist
han
Singapore-born han grew up in Kuching, Malaysia, where the different pace of life attuned him to the neglected and
forgotten in contemporary society.Recording these on negatives, he recreates them in his art. As a documentary
photographer, he has been archiving the work of artists since 2003, and contributing to a variety of publications and
periodicals including Singapore Architect and d + a. han was also a colour supervisor and still photographer of two
of Sherman Ongfs films, Flood and Drought. The artist proof of the sky i wish to share with you was recently
featured in the Singapore International Photography Festival at Gallery 2902 in October 2008, and his joint
documentary, Protecting you & yours 24/7 with Ray Chua and Chan Bin Kan of the Certis Cisco auxiliary police
was featured in the National Museum of Singapore in November 2008
about the editor
Brendan Goh
Brendan is plagued by pregnant pauses about what he does, often finding it difficult to describe his practice, which
encompasses a smorgasbord of interests as diverse as editing, writing, making art, designing, and curating, often in
collaboration with others. Through these activities, he employs creative processes to address his concerns,
engendering different perspectives along the way.
Goh spent his formative years in Singapore at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, before moving on to graduate
from the LASALLE College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007. Goh majored in Sculpture, but was noted to
spend most of his time outside the studio, fascinated with words, people and spaces, much to the consternation of his
lecturers. Goh is a contributor to several artist publications, and despite confessing to his pastime of participating in
gossip in Preoccupations: Things artists do anyway, Goh is a self-confessed sybarite whose other pursuits include
epicurean culinary escapades, reading and swimming. He still nurtures his love of many, however.

about the commentators
Willie Koh (English commentaries)
Willie is a curator and project manager at FARM, a design collective that nurtures creative talents in Singapore.
Formally trained in architecture at the National University of Singapore, and later, in filmmaking at Ngee Ann
Polytechnic, Singapore, Koh enjoys straddling different realms as a writer, director and editor. He has screened his
work internationally, including in Hong Kong, Brisbane, Hungary and Rotterdam. In 2006, he represented Singapore
in the Nokia-Discovery Channel Mobile Filmmakers Award South East Asia. He had a collaborative piece,
Everytime we say goodbye with artist Tang Ling Nah in the 2nd Singapore Biennale 2008.

Lim Fong Wei (Chinese commentaries & translation to English text)
Wei is a film graduate of Boston University. Two of his shorts, Dry and The Thieffs Journal were screened at the
Harvard Film Archive. Dry, a subversive experimental film about failed human connection was awarded the
Redstone Film Festivalfs Honorable Mention Award. Wei sat on the Jury panel of the 19th Singapore International
Film Festival in 2006. He was also one of committee board members of the Singapore Film Commission from 1999
to 2001. In 2002, Wei collaborated with the Singapore Lomo Embassy in their second photo exhibition While You
Sleep. Wei is currently a feature senior correspondent for the largest Chinese daily paper in Singapore Lianhe
Zaobao. His topics ranges from design, architecture, youth culture, trend, manga, anime, and film.
